Accomack County, VA (July 23, 2023) – A motor vehicle accident was reported in Accomack County on Saturday morning that ended in injuries.
Calls for help came in at around 2:20 a.m. on July 22.
According to local news sources, a Virginia State Trooper was driving on Route 13 en route to the Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. As the vehicle proceeded down the roadway, it collided with a black SUV near Coal Kin Road.
The SUV then continued forward and came to rest in a ditch.
The driver of the SUV, 24-year-old Traquan Briscoe, attempted to flee the scene. However, he was arrested and transported to a local hospital, where he faced charges of driving under the influence and failure to maintain a lane.
The trooper was injured in the accident and received medical care.
At this time, the incident is being investigated.
