Albemarle, VA (December 15, 2020) – A fatal traffic accident took place at an intersection in Albemarle on December 13. Sandra Bartola Figueroa Guillen and a juvenile lost their lives in the accident.
According to the police report, the crash occurred at the intersection of Scottsville Road and Red Hill Road at approximately 6:00 p.m. A vehicle turned right in order to head south on Scottsville when they entered the northbound lane. They then were involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle that was traveling in the northbound lane.
Guillen was the driver of the vehicle that was struck head-on. She was accompanied by a juvenile passenger who has not been identified at this time. They were both pronounced deceased at the accident scene by medical professionals.
Another passenger who was present in the vehicle at the time of the collision was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center with injuries of an unknown magnitude. No other injuries were reported to have resulted from the accident.
The reason the crash took place is still being investigated by local authorities at this time.
