Albuquerque, NM (January 24, 2023) – Authorities with the Albuquerque Police Department say that one person tragically lost their life following an auto-pedestrian collision involving a firetruck. The incident was reported at or near the intersection of University and Lomas Boulevards in the city of Albuquerque.
Officials say that at around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, January 24th, an Albuquerque Fire Rescue vehicle was responding to a structure fire when it struck a person who was walking at or near the intersection.
The emergency vehicle reportedly had its lights and sirens activated at the time of the collision but was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian for unknown reasons. The victim was administered treatment at the scene but tragically passed away due to their injuries.
At this time, the events that led to the fatal collision are under investigation, and few other details are available.
