Albuquerque, NM (February 13, 2023) – Authorities say that a woman tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle operated by an intoxicated driver in the city of Albuquerque. The incident was reported last Friday night, February 10th, at approximately 9:00 p.m.
According to reports, a truck driven by a man identified as James Rodriguez was traveling east on Menaul Boulevard when the vehicle hopped a curb. The truck crashed into a woman who was walking on the sidewalk before hitting a pole and coming to rest in a parking lot near Mesilla Street.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, and the female pedestrian was pronounced deceased. Rodriguez was determined to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash and later placed under arrest on suspicion of DWI.
An ongoing investigation into this incident is being conducted by the Albuquerque Police Department.
