Almond, NY (February 10, 2023) – A head-on collision involving a tractor-trailer and a wrong-way driver tragically resulted in the death of one person and the injury of another on Wednesday night, February 8th. The deadly crash reportedly occurred on Interstate 86 in the town of Almond.
Authorities say that a 2017 Dodge Ram being driven by 62-year-old Donald J. Rose of Angelica entered the westbound lanes of the Interstate eastwardly. The Ram then collided head-on with a westbound 2021 Ford tractor-trailer.
The immense impact of the crash resulted in heavy damages, and paramedics immediately responded to the scene alongside firefighters and police. Mr. Rose was pronounced deceased at the scene, and a medical helicopter was called in to airlift the driver of the tractor-trailer.
The injured truck driver was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital for emergency care. Their present condition has not been confirmed.
The events that led to this accident remain under investigation.
