Amarillo, TX (January 14, 2025) – A man lost his life, and two others sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Monday night at the intersection of Hillside Rd and Bell St, according to the Amarillo Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene and identified the driver of a 2015 Subaru, 37-year-old Dylan Thomas Bird, as one of the individuals involved. Bird was traveling eastbound on the inside lane of the 5300 block of Hillside Rd when he changed lanes unsafely, causing contact with a blue 2012 Ford Focus traveling in the right outside lane. The impact caused both vehicles to lose control, striking a house and a wooden electrical pole.
Bird succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A child in the Subaru sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ford Focus suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to an area hospital for care.
Randall County Justice of the Peace Flores responded to the scene, and the incident remains under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad.
Our thoughts are with those impacted by this tragic event, and we extend our condolences to the family and friends of Dylan Thomas Bird.
