Antioch, CA (October 14, 2024) – A tragic car crash occurred early Sunday morning when a driver became trapped in his vehicle as it was engulfed in flames. The incident took place around 5:15 a.m. on State Route 4, involving a blue Ford F-150 and a gray Honda CR-V, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Initial investigations indicate that the driver of the Honda became disabled in Lane 4 for reasons that remain unclear. As the Ford driver was traveling eastbound on SR-4, he collided with the rear of the disabled Honda. The impact caused the Honda to burst into flames, leaving the driver trapped inside.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, the Honda driver succumbed to the injuries he sustained at the scene. The Ford driver, however, suffered only minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
CHP officials have stated that driving under the influence is not suspected to be a factor in this tragic crash, although it is still unclear if other contributing factors are involved.
