Arlington, NY (October 16, 2022) – A fire whose point of origin was determined to be a portable emergency generator left two vehicles, a garage, and major portions of a home extensively damaged on Monday, October 10th.

The fire broke out at about 9:00 a.m. on the 10th block of Edwin Road in Arlington.

City of Poughkeepsie firefighters and Mobile Life Support EMS were among the responders to the two-alarm fire.

It took an hour to fully extinguish the flames.

Two of the home’s residents were vacated with the assistance of first-responding firefighters. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-critical injuries.

The residence was deemed uninhabitable.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

When human skin is exposed to chemicals, radiation, heat, or electricity, the affected tissue is easily damaged. When the damage to the tissue is severe enough to cause necrosis, you have a burn injury.

No matter what kind of burn you may have, all of them are capable of producing painful, debilitating results.  The five most common types of burn injuries are:

  • Cold burns
  • Thermal burns
  • Electrical burns
  • Chemical burns
  • Radiation burns.

The severity of your burn injury hinges on the kind of burn you sustained and the size of the area affected. These injuries can vary from rather insignificant, causing only superficial damage to the skin, or extremely serious, potentially resulting in serious damage to the muscles or bones.
