Asheville, NC – Driver Strikes Cyclist on Merrimon Avenue, Serious Injuries Reported

Asheville, NC (July 11, 2023)- A Ford pickup truck struck a cyclist near the Shell station at 40 Merrimon Avenue early on July 10, 2023.

Asheville Police said the cyclist suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Cullowhee’s Joshua Charles Andrews, 34, was charged with careless and reckless driving, speeding, and driving without a license.

This crash occurred one mile south of the road diet and near an earlier skateboarder’s fatal crash.

Asheville’s high pedestrian and cyclist injuries forced road reconfigurations.
