Athens, PA (July 24, 2023) – A fatal two-car head-on collision occurred southeast of Athens in Bradford County on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 1 p.m.
The crash took place on North Rome Road in Sheshequin Township, as reported by Pennsylvania State Police at Towanda.
One northbound vehicle crossed the solid double center line into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on impact with the other vehicle.
The first car overturned and came to rest at the bottom of an embankment, while the second car veered off the west side and hit a tree.
The operator of the second vehicle lost their life in the crash, while a passenger sustained serious injuries.
The driver responsible for crossing the center line faced charges of driving under the influence.
State police, Ulster and Rome volunteer fire departments, Guthrie EMS, and Sutton’s Towing assisted at the scene.
The investigation is still ongoing.
