Atlanta, GA (February 17, 2023) – On early Thursday morning, around 4:15 a.m., officers with the Atlanta Police Department reportedly responded to Ralph D. Abernathy and West Whitehall Street SW for a fatal pedestrian accident.
Upon their arrival, officers located a seriously injured person who was apparently struck by a train. The victim was not conscious when police located them and was later pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS services.
Norfolk Southern investigators also reported to the scene, along with the Fulton County Medical Examiner, to remove the decedent, who has not yet been identified at this time.
All accident information can change as the investigation progresses and is only preliminary at this time, and new details come to light, per the Atlanta PD.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
