Atlanta, GA (May 10, 2023) – On Friday morning, several vehicles collided on eastbound Interstate 285, causing the highway to be shut down in both directions before the Riverdale Road exit.
Officials have now said that they’ve confirmed one death as a result of the incident. A semi-truck with an attached trailer, a police car, and possibly two other drivers were involved in the collision.
After losing some of its load, the semi collided with a patrol car, which was assisting the driver, according to authorities. The officer was not hurt, according to the Stockbridge Police Department. It is unclear who died as of the SPD’s latest news release, and authorities have not specified whether any additional victims were hurt.
An investigation continues in the meantime.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the deceased victim’s family. Our thoughts go out to any injured victims and their loved ones at this time.
