Atlanta, GA (March 10, 2023) – On Monday morning, a major accident on southbound Highway 400 near Cumming stopped traffic for many hours, and police have since released further details about the victims involved.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the collision happened when the driver of a Hyundai Elantra swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with a HINO truck carrying pressurized CO2 and CO2 canisters.
The impact caused both cars to overturn, leaving both the driver of the Hyundai and the HINO truck with minor to moderate injuries. Meanwhile, a passenger in the Hyundai sustained significant injuries.
The sheriff’s department said all three were transported to a nearby trauma hospital.
The GDOT and APD have not provided further information to the public, but officers say their investigation is ongoing at this time.
