Avilla, MO (July 18, 2023) – Lawrence County E-911 reported a serious head-on crash on MO-96 near MO-97 at 7:30 p.m. on July 18, 2023.
Avilla Fire, Lawrence County Deputies, and Mercy Ambulance arrived quickly.
The crash’s proximity to MO-97’s jurisdictional boundary necessitated Miller Fire’s assistance.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was notified immediately to investigate.
Wyatt Cady, 32, a 1983 Ford F-250 driver from Ash Grove, Missouri, died at the scene.
Republic resident Curtis Forrest, 31, drove a 2013 Dodge Caravan west on MO-96.
His minivan carried two children, and he was seriously injured.
A baby girl died, and a three-year-old boy was seriously injured.
Both helicopters flew survivors to Mercy Springfield.
The crash investigation continues.
