Bakersfield, CA – Fatal Crash on HWY 99 & Olive Dr Involves Single Vehicle

Bakersfield, CA (November 20, 2023) – A tragic solo-vehicle accident on Highway 99 and Olive Dr in Bakersfield resulted in two fatalities. The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as Rosa Lidia Jimenez, 59, and Celia Jimenez. The crash occurred on October 29, with Celia Jimenez dying at the scene and Rosa Jimenez passing away later on November 2.

The vehicle, a 2003 Ford driven by Ruben Jimenez, 57, reportedly made an unsafe turn and lost control. It veered off the road, hit a signpost, and overturned. Rosa and Ruben Jimenez, restrained by seatbelts, suffered major injuries.

Ruben was released from the hospital on November 1, but Rosa succumbed to her injuries the next day. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
