Bakersfield, CA (September 18, 2023) – A fatal hit and run involving a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred at 6:07 a.m. on South Union Ave and Fairview Rd on Monday, September 18, 2023.

The CHP Bakersfield area reported the incident.

Shortly after, the injured pedestrian was found lying in the lanes.

At 6:09 a.m., emergency services were notified.

The suspect vehicle continued southbound but later returned to the scene.

By 6:21 a.m., the coroner was informed.

Fire services were called back at 8:03 a.m. for cleanup.

The investigation is still ongoing.
