Bakersfield, CA – Pedestrian Struck by Big Rig on Highway 99 Results in Fatality

Bakersfield, CA (July 15, 2023) – In Bakersfield, a big rig tragically hit and killed a pedestrian on Friday morning, July 14, 2023.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 1:18 a.m. on Highway 99 near Rosedale Highway.

Semi-trucks hit a woman walking northbound on the highway.

Regrettably, the collision resulted in the 52-year-old woman’s death.

The report indicates that the pedestrian wore dark clothing, making it difficult for the big rig driver to see her.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be factors in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
