Baltimore, MD (May 30, 2021) – A major fire incident reported in the Penn North section of Baltimore has claimed one person’s life on Friday evening. At around 8:30 p.m., on May 28, emergency crews were notified that a fire on West North Avenue required assistance.

Firefighters responded to the scene to find that the three-story residential structure located at 1604 West North Avenue was heavily involved. Flames poured out of the roof and the second floor of the structure.

After arriving, firefighters entered the structure to find anyone who was trapped inside. They located a person on the second floor and pulled them to safety. The victim was rendered aid by EMS and transported to a local hospital for further care.

Firefighters continued to battle the blaze and search the structure for trapped occupants. Just after 11:39 p.m., firefighters discovered a deceased victim on the third floor of the structure.

Firefighters spent several hours at the scene as they worked to battle the blaze. After 6 a.m., on Saturday, May 29, the incident was declared under control. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
