Pedestrian Fatalities in Bedford-Stuyvesant

5.22 Bedford-Stuyvesant, NY - Wayne Reed Fatally Struck by Car on Bedford Ave

Pedestrians are becoming more and more prevalent throughout the state, and as the volume of pedestrians increases, so does the state’s rate of pedestrian-involved accidents. The New York Department of Transportation, which has been regularly analyzing pedestrian volume since the 2007 inception of the Pedestrian Volume Index, announced a rise of 13% in pedestrian traffic.

Drivers in New York are liable for exhibiting a duty of care that includes pedestrians in or near roadways as well as on sidewalks. New York driving laws assign particular duties to drivers where pedestrians are concerned, and when those laws are breached, pedestrians suffer the consequences.

After losing a loved one in a careless, reckless, or otherwise negligent New York pedestrian accident by no fault of the victim, it may feel like no amount of compensation could make you feel complete again. While it is true that no financial restitution can ever fully make up for your losses, filing a wrongful death claim against the responsible party or parties can go a long way toward helping you find some semblance of peace again.
