Bellefontaine, OH (October 21, 2024) – A serious accident occurred on Saturday, October 19, on Township Road 190, just outside Bellefontaine, involving a 13-year-old boy riding a mini-bike. The incident prompted a swift response from Logan County Sheriff Deputies and emergency services.
According to preliminary reports, the boy was riding a 2012 Coleman Powersports mini-bike when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Daniel Irick of West Liberty. Witnesses indicated that the boy was traveling at a high rate of speed on the bike path and failed to stop at the crossing, leading to the collision.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene, where the boy was assessed for his injuries. He was transported by Mac-O-Chee EMS to a nearby helipad and subsequently airlifted to Nationwide Children’s Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
