Benjamin, TX ( July 21, 2023) – The fatal accident took place around 6:00 a.m. on July 20th, 2023.
According to reports, a Hyundai was traveling eastbound on the highway at high speed, while a Dodge was exiting a private drive onto the road at a slower speed in front of the Hyundai.
The driver of the Hyundai claimed that the Dodge was being driven without its lights on, and he could not control the speed of his vehicle, causing it to rear-end the Dodge.
The impact of the collision resulted in both vehicles catching fire.
Tragically, the driver of the Dodge, identified as 72-year-old Candido Uribe from Benjamin, was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai was able to exit the vehicle.
