Beresford, SD (October 22, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Saturday morning, October 19, resulting in the death of a Laurel, Nebraska woman. The incident took place approximately 12 miles west of Beresford on SD Highway 19A.
According to a press release from the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2018 Ford Explorer was traveling southbound on SD Highway 19A and had stopped to make a left turn onto SD Highway 46. At the same time, the driver of a 2018 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on SD Highway 19 and failed to stop at the stop sign. This led to a collision between the two vehicles, causing both to veer into the northeast ditch.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, the driver of the Ford Explorer was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-150 sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
