Berryville, VA (March 31, 2023) – On March 28, the police and firefighters responded to the scene of a crash that took place near the Virginia and West Virginia border that claimed the lives of three people.
Just after 9:40 p.m., authorities were notified that they were needed at the scene of a crash on Harry Byrd Highway.
Reports show that a 2005 Ford Mustang was traveling on Harry Byrd Highway in the wrong direction. As a result, the vehicle collided head-on with the 2008 Saturn Vue in a 2008 Audi A4 near Wrights Mill Road.
Two victims involved in the accident were pronounced deceased at the scene as a result of their injuries. The victims were identified as 66-year-old Tuan D. Dang and 23-year-old Meriam Trejo Santander.
A third victim involved in the accident, 39-year-old Elaine Bird, was rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later passed away from her injuries.
The driver of the Audi, 51-year-old Anthony Williams, and a passenger in the Saturn, 23-year-old Jeiry J. Trejo Santander, were both injured. The two victims were transported to area hospitals.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
