Bethesda, MD (January 25, 2023) – Officers with the Montgomery County Police Department and firefighters with the Montgomery County (MD) Fire & Rescue Service were called to the scene of a trench rescue on Tuesday morning, January 24.
At approximately 11:42 a.m., authorities were notified that a 10-foot uninsured trench collapsed in the 5300 block of Cromwell Drive. Authorities responded to the scene of the incident and secured the area, which was located just off Massachusetts Avenue.
Emergency crews went to work on performing a technical rescue.
One person was lifted out of the trench by first responders.
MCFRS EMS provided treatment to the victim while at the scene. The injured patient was then transported to a local hospital for further medical care.
The Montgomery County Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
