Black Hawk County, IA – Cedar Rapids Couple Injured in Collision on US-63

Black Hawk County, IA (November 20, 2023) – A Cedar Rapids couple sustained injuries in a collision on US-63 at East Cedar Wapsi Road, south of Denver, on Friday, November 17. The crash occurred just before 3 PM.

Iowa State Patrol reports that Matthew Matthias, 45, of Readlyn, Iowa, ran a stop sign and collided with a Honda CRV driven by Charles Stone, 60. Stone and his passenger, Lily Stone, 56, were injured in the impact with Matthias’ Toyota.

The couple were transported to Allen Hospital. Their current conditions are unknown. Matthias faces charges for OWI and failure to yield. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident.
