Blackfoot, ID (September 19, 2023) – A tragic accident occurred before 12:30 a.m. on southbound I-15 near milepost 99, claiming the life of William Schweigen, 17. on September 18, 2023,
Schweigen, from Salt Lake City, was in a vehicle with two other juveniles heading north on I-15.
Their vehicle left the right shoulder, rolled, and ended up in the southbound lanes.
A southbound 2022 Ram Promaster, driven by a 65-year-old from Idaho Falls, collided with the overturned vehicle.
Two juveniles from the accident were hospitalized.
Sadly, Schweigen succumbed to his injuries on the scene. None of the three juveniles wore seatbelts.
The Promaster’s driver, seatbelted, was also hospitalized. His condition remains undisclosed.
The investigation is still ongoing.
