Bronx, NY (November 18, 2022) – A bicyclist was hospitalized with multiple fractures following a chaotic collision with a stolen motor vehicle in the Kingsbridge Heights section of the Bronx. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon, November 17th.

Authorities say that the wild scene started when two men began to fire bullets at one another in the vicinity of Public School 310 on West Kingsbridge Road. One of the men involved in the shooting then stole a vehicle from a father and son in the area and fled down Bailey Avenue.

Moments after the carjacking, the suspect struck a 47-year-old male bicyclist who was riding alongside the roadway and continued driving. The incident came to a close after the suspect ultimately crashed into a tree at the intersection of West Fordham Road and Sedgwick Avenue.

Emergency crews transported the cyclist to a nearby hospital. The patient is being treated for a broken pelvis and multiple facial fractures. He is expected to survive.

The 29-year-old suspect who struck the rider was taken into police custody. The charges against him are pending.
