Bronx, NY (May 19, 2021) – A construction worker was killed and one other was left critically injured after a serious elevator accident while working. The collapse was reported on Wednesday morning, May 19th, at approximately 8:15 a.m.

According to authorities, two employees of SDI Construction were working on the top floor of a building located on Bruckner Boulevard. While loading materials into a freight elevator, the car collapsed and plummeted to the first floor. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and both workers were located unconscious and unresponsive inside the elevator.

One victim, identified only as a 30-year-old male supervisor was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other victim, identified as a 29-year-old was taken to Lincoln Hospital. The injured victim was reported in critical condition.

No identities have been reported and the events that led to this incident are under investigation.
