Bronx, NY (May 9, 2023) – A fire broke out early this morning in an apartment on the third floor of a building on 1006 Grant Avenue.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at around 7:50 a.m. and found that a majority of the flames were concentrated in the affected apartment. Sadly, it has been confirmed by Medical Examiner’s Office that one person died in the blaze.
Firefighters have not yet determined the cause of the fire but they noted a heavy clutter condition inside the apartment. It was not immediately clear if this contributed to the fire or its severity.
A tweet from the FDNY at 8:27 a.m. reported that the fire was under control.
We offer our deepest condolences to the victim’s family and hope that those affected by the fire recover quickly.
