Bronx, NY (February 20, 2023) – Early on Sunday morning, February 19th, a 55-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle while working at a car wash in the Bronx. The deadly incident was reported shortly before 5:30 a.m. at a car wash located between East 167th and East 168th Streets.
According to the NYPD, the worker was drying a vehicle when an SUV struck him, as well as the car he was working on at the time. The deadly incident was reported at a car wash located at 1181 Webster Avenue.
Two people who were in the SUV left the scene on foot, and emergency responders arrived a short time later. Both the worker who was struck and the occupant of the sedan he was working on were taken to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries. The worker was tragically pronounced deceased a short time later.
The injured occupant of the vehicle that was struck sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No further details are available at this time.
The events that led to this incident remain under investigation.
