Brooklyn, NY (December 4, 2022) – A fire incident took place in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn that resulted in injuries. At around 3 a.m., on December 4, emergency crews were notified that a fire had broken out on 85th Street.
According to authorities, a transformer fire below the ground was detected in the area of 2340 85th Street. The fire extended to the roadway after blowing out multiple maintenance holes on the road, where it caught a vehicle on fire.
Firefighters responded to the scene of the accident and extinguished the fire. Another maintenance hole exploded while authorities were working at the scene.
One person suffered injuries as a result of the explosion. The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The incident remains under investigation.
