These accidents cause injuries to hundreds of thousands of people and take the lives of thousands more. Pedestrians are often injured in auto accidents in the state of New York, especially in New York City. Sustaining injuries in a severe auto accident can be extremely stressful and turn your life inside out in the blink of an eye. Drivers who decide to drive while intoxicated, distracted, fatigued, or at unsafe speeds cause millions of auto accidents throughout the United States every year.

After spending years practicing law, our experienced New York wrongful death attorneys know the most effective methods of uncovering proof that supports your version of events and ensures that you receive the compensation to which you are entitled.

If you wish to see a financially advantageous outcome to your wrongful death case, you will have to prove that:

  • The negligent person owed your family member a duty of care
  • The negligent person violated that duty by acting recklessly or negligently
  • The negligent person’s violation of duty was the cause of your family member’s death

The only way to demonstrate that these three elements apply to your claim is to collect as much relevant evidence as you possibly can; a feat that is both difficult and time-consuming.

After losing a loved one in a careless, reckless, or otherwise negligent New York pedestrian accident by no fault of the victim, it may feel like no amount of compensation could make you feel complete again. While it is true that no financial restitution can ever fully make up for your losses, filing a wrongful death claim against the responsible party or parties can go a long way toward helping you find some semblance of peace again.
