Brooklyn, NY (May 17, 2023) – A major apartment fire broke out near Brooklyn Botanic Garden on May 17th, resulting in injuries to two individuals.
At 12:15 p.m., firefighters arrived at 212 Montgomery Street to find flames engulfing the building. As crews battled the blaze with two hoses, primary searches were initiated in the building. A few minutes later, a person was reported to have sustained serious injuries, according to EMS units on the scene.
Efforts to control the fire were successful, and at 12:28 p.m., firefighters confirmed that a majority of the flames and smoke had been extinguished, and the fire was deemed under control.
As the firefighters were clearing the scene, it was reported that another individual had also suffered injuries.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
