Buchanan, WI (October 23, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday night involving a wrong-way driver on County CE in Outagamie County. At approximately 7:26 p.m., authorities were alerted to a vehicle traveling east in the westbound lanes of County CE at County Road N.
Despite efforts by law enforcement to intercept the vehicle, the SUV continued on its path and ultimately collided head-on with a pickup truck. The impact of the crash was severe, resulting in the immediate death of the SUV driver, a 70-year-old man from Buchanan. The driver of the pickup truck, a 51-year-old man from Appleton, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
In response to the accident, officials closed the westbound lanes of County Road CE between County Road N and Buchanan Road for approximately three hours to facilitate the investigation and clear the scene.
