Buffalo, MO (November 20, 2023) – A devastating crash on US 65, 5 miles south of Buffalo, resulted in two fatalities and two serious injuries on Sunday, November 19. At around 11:39 AM, a 1998 Ford Ranger, driven by Melody K. Thomas, 52, from Long Lane, MO, veered off the road, overcorrected, and overturned in the median.
The accident ejected all occupants, including David C. Van Nostrand, 28, and Ken D. Van Nostrand, 48, who sustained serious injuries. Kevin L. Van Nostrand, 48, and Thomas both tragically died in the crash. The deceased were pronounced at the scene by Dallas County Coroner Matt Wisdom.
This incident marks Troop D’s 129th and 130th fatality crashes for 2023. Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the crash.
