Caliente, NV – Two Killed in Plane Crash at Kane Springs & Riggs Rd

Caliente, NV (August 1, 2020) – On Thursday afternoon, two air tankers collided near Caliente while attempting to contain a wildfire. The Federal Aviation Administration reported that two single-engine Air Tractor AT8T airplanes were dispatched to combat the Bishop Fire, roughly 17 miles southwest of Caliente. The two planes reportedly collided at around 1 p.m. near the intersection of Kane Springs Road and Riggs Road. 

The two planes, owned by the M & M Air Service, collided in mid-air, killing both of the pilots. The deceased parties were both residents of Southeast Texas. At this time, the identities of the deceased parties have not been made public. 

The cause of the accident is still unknown. An ongoing investigation into the accident is being managed by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Department of the Interior. No further updates are currently available.
