Moreno Valley, CA (May 8, 2020) – At around 11 a.m., on May 4, the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Gilman Springs Road.
Reports show that 18-year-old Jose Angel Perez was traveling west along Highway 60 in a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV when he became involved in a minor collision with a second vehicle. Instead of stopping, Perez fled the scene down Gilman Springs Road.
Perez became involved in another collision and rolled over his SUV, ejecting the 17-year-old female and 18-year-old male passengers from his vehicle.
The female was rushed to Riverside University Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. The 18-year-old was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Perez was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and driving under the influence.
At this time, CHP is investigating.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the female injured in this accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the male injured in this crash.
