San Jose, CA (August 08, 2020) – According to an article published by a local news source man was killed during a car accident along the Interstate 880 Freeway on the evening of Friday, August 7th.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has since identified the victim as 47-year-old Benjie Gomez, a resident of San Jose.
An initial inquiry into the fatal accident showed that at about 6:00 p.m., Gomez was riding a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound along Interstate 880 when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, as he drew near to Highway 101, he lost control of the bike and collided with a semi-truck.
Emergency medical personnel transported Gomez via ambulance to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose for emergency medical care of critical injuries he received during the crash. He was pronounced dead a short while later.
In the meantime, local law enforcement officers were able to identify the operator of the tractor-trailer as a 28-year-old male from Dos Palos. The truck operator did not appear to have sustained any injuries during the collision.
Crash investigators are currently conducting a professional inquiry to determine cause and liability for this accident.
