Cambria, NY – Paul Baker Killed, Teen Injured in Crash with Box Truck at Saunders Settlement & Meahl Rds

Cambria, NY (May 27, 2021) – Authorities in Niagara County say that one man was killed and a teen boy seriously injured after their vehicle was struck by a box truck in the town of Cambria. The fatal accident happened early on Wednesday evening, May 26th, at the intersection of Saunders Settlement and Meahl Roads.

According to local officials, Paul Baker, 73, of Sanborn, was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry with a 14-year-old male passenger when he made a left turn at the intersection around 5:50 p.m. The Camry was then struck by a 1998 Mitsubishi box truck operated by Kristian Bruce, 49, of Lockport.

Both vehicles were sent off the roadway due to the impact of the crash and emergency crews were dispatched to the scene moments later. Baker was pronounced deceased at the crash site and his teen passenger was transported to Oishei Children’s Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Both Bruce and his passenger, identified as Nicholas Bruce, 20, of Orchard Park were released at the scene after receiving treatment for minor injuries. The events that led to the crash remain under investigation.
