Cambria, NY (October 16, 2022) – A man died in a Niagara County house fire on Wednesday, October 12th. Sheriff’s deputies reported that the fire started at about 10:00 a.m. in the 3500th block of Ridge Road in Cambria.

Calls to 911 indicated that a resident might still be inside the home. Upon arrival,  responders observed smoke coming from several parts of the residence.

Deputies’ attempts to enter the home were unsuccessful due to flames and heavy smoke. Fire crews began working to bring the flames under control.

After the blaze was extinguished the home was searched and the body of a 69-year-old male resident was recovered.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification.

Fatal Residential Fires in New York

Cambria, NY - Resident Dies in Ridge Rd House Fire

If you have been injured or lost a family member in a house fire, the first thing you should do is meet with a New York personal injury attorney.

The injury and fatality rate for residential fires is alarming. Even though fire crews respond to calls as quickly as they can, it only takes a couple of minutes for major property damage, injuries, and even deaths to take place.

Burns and smoke inhalation are the two main injuries sustained in house fires, although many other kinds of injuries can occur.

Even in the event that the fire department does arrive quickly enough to deter severe injuries, major property damage is virtually unavoidable if the fire is not contained immediately. Those inside the burning residence can also sustain injuries resulting from lacerations from structural collapse, broken windows, or falling while trying to escape the burning structure.

After losing a loved one in a careless, reckless, or otherwise negligent New York accident by no fault of the victim, it may feel like no amount of compensation could make you feel complete again. While it is true that no financial restitution can ever fully make up for your losses, filing a wrongful death claim against the responsible party or parties can go a long way toward helping you find some semblance of peace again.
