Camillus, NY (May 12, 2023) – On Friday, May 12th, at approximately 11:27 a.m., a 75-year-old man was hit by a car while riding his bike on Warners Road at the Erie Canal Path in Camillus. According to Lt. Kristen Afarian, a spokesperson for the Camillus Police Department, the man was traveling south on the road at the same time as a woman was driving her car in the same direction. It is believed that the man was turning when the car hit him.
The man received several cuts on his head, among other injuries, and was taken to a hospital, where he was hospitalized. Fortunately, the man was wearing a helmet that contributed to his injuries not being more severe.
Lt. Afarian stated that neither the driver nor the biker was behaving recklessly, and neither was intoxicated at the time of the incident. The accident is still under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured man and his loved ones, and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.
