Canarsie, NY (December 5th, 2020) – A United States Postal Service employee sustained critical injuries on Tuesday, December 1st when a speeding driver ran a stop sign and collided with his car at an intersection in the Canarsie neighborhood.

Reports indicate that, at about 2:00 p.m., a grey Mercedes Benz that was driving northbound at a high rate of speed on East 105th Street, T-boned the postal employee’s Subaru Forester, which was traveling eastbound along Avenue L. 

The force of the impact then caused the Subaru to crash into a parked Nissan pick-up truck before jumping the curb and rolling over into a brick wall.

Police officers from the 69th Precinct along with fire and rescue teams responded to the crash site where it took nearly 20 minutes to extract the postal employee from his vehicle. Once freed, he was found to be unresponsive and unconscious. He was transported via ambulance to Brookdale Hospital with a serious head injury. His condition was listed as critical.  

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the cause of the accident.
