Cape Girardeau, MO (November 19, 2023) – A rear-end collision involving two vehicles occurred on US 61, half a mile north of Jackson, on Saturday, November 18, at 7:17 PM.
Rebecca S. Leadbetter, a 59-year-old female from Jackson, MO, was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile northbound when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 2011 Ford Fusion, driven by 81-year-old Betty L. Dunn, also from Jackson. Dunn’s Ford Fusion sustained total damage and was towed by Sperlings, while Leadbetter’s Oldsmobile suffered moderate damage and was towed by Cape County Towing.
Betty L. Dunn was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center due to moderate injuries. Both drivers were utilizing safety devices at the time of the accident.
TPR O. D. Hawkins of Troop E is conducting the investigation. The cause of the crash is under further investigation.
