DeKalb, MO (July 13, 2023) – On Tuesday, July 11, 2023, a motorcyclist from Harrisonville died in a three-vehicle crash involving two semi-trucks in Cass County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the collision occurred on Highway 7 near Kircher Road.
Derek A. Shawgo, 34, of Hannibal, a southbound semi-truck driver, failed to yield and attempted a U-turn, colliding with Eric L. Thomas, 44, on a motorcycle.
The motorcycle then struck a parked second semi-truck, ejecting Thomas.
Sadly, Thomas was pronounced dead at Cass County Regional Medical Center.
Both truck drivers escaped injury.
Investigation is still underway.
