Castleton Corners, NY (March 28, 2023) – A significant emergency response was sparked after a serious head-on collision involving a sedan and an FDNY vehicle in the Castleton Corners area of Staten Island. Authorities with the FDNY say that it happened on Monday afternoon, March 27th, at approximately 1:30 p.m.
According to reports provided by officials, a sedan and an FDNY vehicle collided head-on on Slosson Avenue in the vicinity of Reon Avenue for unknown reasons. Both vehicles sustained immense front-end damage, and emergency responders arrived to assist those involved a short time later.
A total of two people were reportedly involved in the crash and assisted at the scene by responding paramedics. One of the victims was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton. Their current condition has not been verified.
According to the FDNY, the vehicle involved was a department maintenance vehicle that does not have an emergency response role. At this time, few other details are available.
