Charlotte County, VA (March 18, 2023) – The Virginia state police responded to the scene of an accident that claimed one person’s life on Saturday morning.
At around 5:30 a.m. on March 11, the police were notified that a crash occurred on Route 360.
Preliminary investigations show that a 2020 Toyota Corolla was traveling east on Route 360 when it collided with a 2022 Toyota Corolla. The incident prompted officials to shut down the roadway just one half mile west of Route 812.
The driver of the 2022 Corolla, 61-year-old Akilimali Balagizi, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the 2020 Corolla, 25-year-old Sarah McCorkle, was transported to an area hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
