Highway Ramp Collisions in North Carolina
Accidents near highway interchanges like I-77 and Sunset Rd are not uncommon in cities such as Charlotte, where high-volume traffic merges with exit and entrance ramps. These zones often experience congestion and abrupt lane changes, increasing the risk of crashes—especially during mid-morning or rush hour periods.
In North Carolina, data from the Department of Transportation points to frequent injury collisions in areas where surface roads and highways intersect. Drivers may misjudge gaps, become distracted, or encounter congestion that leads to sudden braking, all of which can contribute to multi-vehicle incidents.
Injury crashes at ramps and exit areas often present unique challenges for victims, including insurance disputes and questions about right-of-way. Anyone injured in such a setting should consider seeking medical care immediately and documenting details of the scene, especially since establishing fault can be complex.
