Chelsea, Manhattan, NY (May 13, 2020) – A fire extinguisher exploded in a freak accident that left one construction worker dead and other injured in Manhattan. The fatal mishap was reported inside a building located at 341 Ninth Avenue in Chelsea on Wednesday morning, May 13th.
According to officials, the workers were on the fourth floor of the building when a fire extinguisher exploded for unverified reasons. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene where one worker was pronounced deceased and one other was transported to Lenox Healthplex in Greenwich Village. The injured victim has been listed in serious condition.
At this time, no identities have been released. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of this incident.
