Chesapeake, VA (December 11, 2020) – Police are investigating after a woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident that took place at an intersection in Chesapeake.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Whistle Town Road and Fernham Lane just before 8:00 a.m. on the morning of December 9, Wednesday. According to authorities, a black SUV struck the woman who was walking down the side of Whistle Town. The SUV then fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
The female victim, who has not been identified to the public at this time, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital by medical professionals for treatment. Her current health condition has not been reported.
Authorities have identified the driver who struck the woman as 33-year-old Michelle McKeown with the help of eye witness reports from the crash scene. She was taken into police custody on Thursday, December 10, and is being charged with a hit-and-run felony.
