Chesterfield County, VA (May 11, 2023) – The Chesterfield Police Department confirmed that 38-year-old Kelvin Ayala-Calles has died as a result of a pedestrian accident that took place on Tuesday, May 9.
Just before 1:00 a.m., emergency crews were notified that they were needed at the scene of a crash on Jahnke Road.
Reports from authorities indicate that Ayala-Calles was struck by a 2023 Kia Rio, which was traveling westbound on the roadway.
Authorities responded to the scene of the accident and shut down the road underneath Chippenham Parkway.
Ayala-Calles was rushed to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment. Authorities confirm that he passed away from his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 22-year-old Dayja Seward, was found to be under the influence at the time of the accident. They were taken into police custody.
The incident remains under investigation.
